WOW! Last week was super busy! We had a week that took us a ton of places! Elder Shaffer and I are Staying together. We are going to have the best week this transfer.
We had a cool miracle Monday night while on our way to see someone. We had just gotten out of the car. Looking across the street we saw this guy on his phone sitting down on some steps in front of his apartment complex. When I saw him the thought crossed my mind to go and contact him. A little hesitant at first we contacted him (aka went over and talk to him). His name was Willie. And had been contacted by a missionary I met briefly at the beginning of my mission, Elder Walker, and has long since been home. Elder Walker contacted him at the street intersection less then a hundred feet from where we were talking. The impression Elder Walker made was enough that he rememberd his name still now. Much of this impression came from Elder Walker sending a letter to him some time after he left the area. Willie has a friend that is on a mission. We had the opportunity to sit down and share the restoration with him. His eyes lit up as we shared our belief about prophets and the authority to act in God's name is again on the earth. Sharing with us he believed the same things that he recognizes Peter James and John ,Etc. as apostles of Jesus Christ as well. As we spoke to him he wanted to come to church and in addition go to the YSA (young single adult) ward which is a congregation of people 18-30 years old (mainly to meet people and be around those your own age). He didn't show up, sadly, but we are hoping to meet with him again this week!
I am super excited to work with Joyce this transfer as well as Jimmy and Eric. Jimmy and Joyce have both committed to read and Eric Is desiring to really know if Joseph Smith is a prophet!
An excerpt from one of my emails talking about Eric :
" We have one of the smartest people I have ever met. He is 25 and super faith based in his life as well as a strong bases in the bible and science! Which is a weird combination. He views prophets much as we do and prays to know if the book of Mormon is true and did it way before we ever committed him to do it! He is married and this last week with passion as well as shaking a little (showing his passion about not knowing if Joseph smith really was a prophet saying it seems kind of "fishy " ) yet he reads still and continues to want to learn more desiring from us that we come back and have more to share with him about Joseph Smith and our experiences in coming to know he is a prophet!"
He truly seeks the truth! Hopefully we are able to help him understand who Joseph smith is and our testimonies or how we came to know that he really was a prophet.
I know that if we read the Scriptures, the Bible and/or the Book of Mormon, Heavenly Father will bless us. No matter what we need, we will find answers in the ideas that come to mind or in the words we see as we read!
Love you all!
