This week has been great! Weather has been wonderful - coldish (for California) and cloudy :) IT EVEN SPRINKLED a Little :). I miss rainy weather sometimes. The People have been great and had miracles happen!
As we were working on Sunday,we really struggled to find people to talk to in the afternoon and the night. Then at around 7, we found someone. We had knocked twice and just about to walk away when we decided to knock again, 3rd time. The Mom, elderly, answered and said that we could come in. Angie and Donovan, whom we were there to see, came out a little hesitantly. They are a young un-married couple with a 5 year old daughter. As we began, our conversation seemed to focus a lot on nature and the Joy you feel being away from the hustle and bustle of society. At one point, we found ourselves talking about spiritual gifts and then onto Gospel related topics. The two of them drove the conversation on as we asked simple questions as they mainly conversed with each other! By the end, Angie said the closing prayer for the first time according to Donovan, ending it "in the name of Jesus Christ". Which is to say I believe in God and acknowledge our prayers reach God as we act in the name of Jesus Christ. Angie was hesitant and Donovan was on the edge of tears from her prayer. She had felt the spirit and God's love. I felt a seal of approval right as she ended the prayer! They said they had learned things and said things they never thought they would. They had a desire to write down the experience that night as well!
Side note: 2 lessons were canceled for this experience. 1 before so we decided to go by Angie and Donovan during the hour we had the other planned and the next lesson while we were teaching Angie and Donovan allowing us the opportunity, without knowing it, to teach them longer!
We had great miracles this week, though we had many lessons fall through. The Third time really is the charm ! Loving life in California on a mission ! Obedience is the best thing around because Elder Shaffer and I were following our plans and what we need to do. We were prepared by our studying the scriptures and talking with people. We found new people to teach. When we listened to the promptings of the spirit we were taught persistence earlier in the day to make sure people were really not home which prepared us to knock a third time and have the experiences with Angie and Donovan! This is the best! REMEMBER THE WAY YOU FEEL when you talk with God. Remember THE WAY YOU FEEL when you receive those thoughts out of nowhere.
Have an awesome week!
