We Had a great week again being able to teach a lot of people as well as do a lot of moves.I have said the phrase "lift where you stand" a lot lately, mainly as a joke when picking things up in reference to a conference talk. This week I had the opportunity to "lift where you stand" as described in this talk https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2008/10/lift-where-you-stand?lang=eng. The way we moved this piano was pretty much the same. There were many times where we had to go through door ways. In these moments we had less people able to help . It was when we all had our hands on the piano that it became light. When one or more were removed it became more difficult to bear the weight. When we all put our effort in, the load moved quickly and easily. LIft where you stand in your lives. You can make a big influence. When you even have one hand on the load it lightens it extremely. It all came by that person putting their effort in.
I have had the opportunity to see this in my work this week. While in lessons with Investigators when I am not adding my part or effort into the lesson the loss of a testimony makes a different in the power the Holy Ghost has in testifying of truth.
Thursday when just before we got to our car a guy yells out
"hey are you Mormon?!" . We said "yes." He told us there is a guy we need to go by. He gave us the address and drove away. We didn't have time to contact it that day but we did Friday. We had put it as a plan for the afternoon but we ran out of time to do it so right after dinner we decided we would contact it. Dinner was right down the street from it and we went to it. On our way we saw a girl standing outside her car with her baby. We talked to her, Meg, and Joshua her 5 month old baby. She was so open to talking with us and accepted a copy of the book Of Mormon and said she would read it. After this we headed to the referral and found out it was a guy who just wanted to contend with us. As we were ending the conversation with him his son walked in with the Meg's baby. The guy who gave us the referral set us up for "failure" so we would contend with his dad. God used that referral as a way for us to talk to his daughter, Meg and allow her to receive the gospel!
Our Investigators:
Mike - Our Taiwanese Investigator came to church this week and stayed all three hours! He has been progressing reading the Book of Mormon .
Elizabeth - Has accepted a baptismal date and Is reading the book of Mormon. We didn't have an opportunity to teach her a lot because she is not feeling well.
Meg- She is great! Hopfully we can teach her this Wednesday!
Fun stories/ Pictures.-
There is a recent convert, someone made the choice to be baptized 5 months ago who is from Peru and he fed us this week. He took us out to eat at Inka Catina to eat Peruvian food with his parents who are visiting from Peru! I had Lamb for the first time so good!
The picture with us and our Good man Stan "The Man" Michelson. He is Jewish and really funny. We are helping him clean out his house of all the stuff he has.
Then us lifting the piano.
Love you all!
