This week has JUST BEEN A BLAST! It was the last week of a 5 week transfer. Well Elder Barney and I both are getting transferred so this area is getting white washed (this means both Elders, or sisters, are moved to another area and 2 "new" missionaries come into the area) I am going to the Harper Park ward in Huntington Beach and Elder Barney is going to Compton! Funny how they are both opposite ends of the mission and cultures. I have loved being in Los Alamitos and at times Seals Beach seeing the ocean with the other Elders in our district.
Our week really picked up. Looking back now the Lord was preparing the way for the Elders coming in this next week. We picked up 2 new investigators as well as taught Jacob and Jessica (young couple I have taught last 6 months).THE CRAZY part is that without planning to have members come to each house, each investigator we have knows someone in the ward that the next missionaries can ask what has been taught etc.
INVESTIGATORS found/taught this week :
SARAH: We found her out with a member and thought she was waving at us so we went over and talked to here. We found that she was waving at another person. The member, Brother Donvito, asked if we could help her out. Our timing could not have been better, we helped carry some things in to help her move in. We came again this week with perfect timing. She said that she was just thinking about calling us, to help put up her blinds. We ended coming back the next day with a member, Bryant(18), to share a message with her. She accepted it so well! I hope she is able to hear more about the gospel.
TIM: With 30 min left in the day on Thursday, we felt very strongly to go to his house, where a former who moved out a month ago. He did not seem to have knowledge of who we were as missionaries but seemed very interested to know who we were. He is ready to hear the gospel. For the last 3 1/2 months he has been struggling to work because he crushed his ankle from a 9 foot fall.
Jacob and Jessica: ALL IN ALL JUST AN AWESOME LESSON WITH CRAIG. and JACOB PRAYED FOR THE 2nd TIME!
PO Chung (the one we have been working with the last 5 months)--->others that he lives with are Ruth(mom) , David and Aly: RUTH AND David came to the Departure fireside. This is the first time I had seen them. We were able to go by and talk to the family twice this week too. We found out later from Ruth that Aly, who sat and talked with us while we were there, does not normally take time to talk! THE MISSIONARIES BETTER BE READY TO DO WORK HERE!
THIS HAS REALLY BEEN MY WEEK. It was crazy to hear that we were both getting transferred, but it's a great moment to know we can get to know new people and areas!
I LOOK FORWARD TO IT AND EVEN MORE PEOPLE TO SERVE IN CALIFORNIA!
THIS WEEKS PICTURES:
Me getting some keys out of the gutter that Elder Pollard 'Accidentally" threw up there when he was tossing them around
JACE, Bro Hiatt our ward mission leader's son whom I'm giving a Fist bump. :D
WELL STAY FROSTY YALL!
Love,
ELDER VANKAMMEN
